I’m about to miss my mom’s funeral, in Sweden, due to Expedia. We booked flights with plenty of time to transfer. It costed $12000. Expedia decided to sell our tickets, so we ended up with flights with minimal transfer time. Not good for international travel. So the first flight with United got delayed, so we missed our flight to Sweden. Scandinavian airline doesn’t have 24h customer service. So we couldn’t get them to rebook us. Several flights was available. Expedia didn’t want to help, since they sold the tickets to the airlines. Since United caused part of the problem they finally rebooked for 24h later. I’m probably going to miss my mom’s funeral. This sucks. Never use Expedia. And yes we tried to get earlier flights, but nothing was available.
I booked a flight on May 18 at 7:05 PM from LGA to BNA through the app. It showed my booking as confirmed and gave me a confirmation number. But when I arrived at the airport, Delta said they couldn’t find any reservation. I contacted customer service and was told the booking never went through, which was shocking because the app clearly showed it as confirmed. After that, I saw the booking get canceled. Because of this, I missed my trip to Nashville. I don’t understand how the app could show a confirmation if the booking wasn’t processed, why I only found out on the day of travel, and why my money wasn’t refunded earlier. This was very frustrating and disappointing.
DO NOT BOOK WITH EXPEDIA!! Even though I bought the insurance they would not refund me when trip had to be canceled because of a family member’s anxiety. They do not consider mental health a legitimate reason to cancel and be refunded.
Expedia quoted me $203 for a rental car then when I turned the car in was told it would be $316 citing "other fees" which Expedia never disclosed the cost of.
If I could give negative I would. They gave me 2 booking options that showed paying them directly as cheaper than paying hotel at check in so I paid them. Then I got folio from hotel for my stay that shows it as $215 cheaper than through Expedia so they LIED from square one. I spent over 2 hours with chats and phone calls where I had to repeat my information over and over. They finally offered a "refund" of only $50, not the $215. Then it turns out they would not give "refund" to my credit card but only in their One Key Cash which is "play money" and assumes that I will book through them again which I never, never will again so I wasted 2 hours and got nothing but their lies.
Reserved wrong room. Spent over an hour on phone trying to rectify without success. Never will use Expedia again!
They gave me a ticket that clearly did not make sense. For example my trip was booked from Nairobi, Istanbul, Copenhagen- Copenhagen, Istanbul to London Gatwick. The problem is the flight from Copenhagen to Istanbul was booked in a way that the flight landing in Istanbul to conect to London was impossible to connect because the Londow flight was departing an hour before we land in Istanbul and they sent an email for me to change but it was impossible to change online. I called them and they said i have to do it online which was impossible and therefore i lost that ticket and had to buy a new ticket. On arriving in London and preparing to leave London to Istanbul and finally back to Nairobi, i was meant to know that my whole flight was cancelled without my knowledge and i had to buy another ticket to Kenya via Gulf air. What a nightmare and all expedia said was its company policy that if you have one no show the whole ticket is cancelled. This is horendous and inhumane because if i didnt have a credit card, i would have been stranded in london with no place to sleep. Dont buy fro expedia no matter how cheap it is because cheap costed me anothe 1000 dollars that i didnt have. Now i owe the credit company 1000 dollars because of trying to save. Buy directly from the airline
Wish there was a negative star rating! I am writing this review to warn other travelers—particularly single females traveling alone—about the severe discrepancy between Expedia’s online listings and reality, followed by their predatory refund practices. Based on the photos provided on Expedia, I booked a two-night stay at a property. Upon arrival, the exterior was poorly maintained with overgrown weeds, open windows, and outdated interiors visible from the street. Because safety and cleanliness are my top priorities, I asked to see the rooms before official check-in. Both the first-floor room and the supposedly "updated" second-floor room were entirely unacceptable, neglected, and looked nothing like the advertised photos. I immediately informed the front desk that I would not be staying and requested a cancellation. The staff member explicitly confirmed it was canceled and told me I was "all set." Despite this explicit confirmation, Expedia only refunded me for one night. Their excuse? They claimed the cancellation "missed the deadline"—which is an absolute impossibility, considering the booking itself was made after that arbitrary deadline had already passed. To make matters worse, Expedia's customer service has been a joke. They sent templated emails claiming they attempted to call me but couldn't get through due to "business hours," which is completely false. It’s just a broken back-and-forth designed to wear consumers down so they give up. I refused to stay at the establishment, I am actively disputing the remaining charges with my credit card company, and I will never use Expedia again. They take advantage of consumers with deceptive marketing and predatory policies. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.
As a long term customer of Expedia I was surprised and disappointed that when after I was refused travel due to my passport being over ten years' old (but with over six months remaining to expiry), Expedia were unsympathetic and offered nothing. They wasted over an hour of my time with their virtual agent that repeatedly requested I stay online (while travelling home from the airport) and in the end managed to achieve nothing. The hotels we booked with directly were understanding and offered credits towards future dates. The hotel we booked through Expedia and the airline both offered nothing. Expedia offered no apology even for wasting my time with their useless virtual agent.
On the Expedia app I typed in arriving on 13th departing 14th when I received my verification email it said 17th and 18th I called them immediately and they refuse to give me a refund if I live to be a 1000 I will never use them again and am telling everyone I know!
It really isn't a reliable company. They mis-represent properties and design their platform to catch clients out. And good luck chasing a refund where they hide behind rigid policies and blame the providers and stonewall honest clients. Maybe scammers like them get somewhere but the rest of us, better stay away from monolithic dehumanized third party providers to plan our precious time off. We don't need to be funding more of that. We deserve better. We deserve to deal with human beings who are allowed and encouraged to be ethical human beings. Not bots or agents coached and instructed to act like machines, where humans are processed on an automated assembly line. Honestly, going forward I am better off using Expedia to initially survey listings, but when I find one of interest, I will contact the hotel directly and make the reservation. I would at least get a realistic idea about what I'm getting and the type of customer service I can expect, and take a view, without going through Expedia hell or risking falling into their fine print traps. If we are paying good money, why should we allow Expedia to practically constrain our rights whilst hiding behind technicalities then inflicting terrible customer service upon us to make us go away? We deserve better than this. And anyone who has an ounce of self care would spare themselves having to deal with this monolithic relic of a company. What a scam. Never again.
Deceptive, inaccurate, fraudulent advertising. I searched for a hotel in Vancouver with breakfast included. The Metropolitan came up, which I booked. I learned at the hotel that Breakfast was not included!!!. In the fine print, upon selecting a room, Amenities shows: “Full breakfast included for $35 a couple.” So they outright lied on the filter page to get you to pick the hotel. Expedia has been ok previously, but I will never use them again. Read very carefully the search results. Verify everything.
I am extremely disappointed with the horrible experience I had with Expedia regarding my recent trip booking to Bali. I paid over $2,200 for my airline ticket and an additional $254 for travel insurance, expecting professional customer service and support if any issues arose. Unfortunately, my name was entered incorrectly in the system, with my first and last name reversed. This should have been a simple correction, yet Expedia made the process stressful, confusing, and completely unacceptable. I contacted customer service multiple times trying to get my name corrected. One representative told me the issue could not be fixed, while another informed me that I would need to purchase an entirely new ticket. I do not understand why I should be forced to pay thousands more because of a simple name correction issue. The customer service experience was terrible. Several employees were rude, unclear, and seemed completely clueless about how to resolve the issue. It was also very difficult to understand some representatives over the phone. One representative, who identified himself as “Fernando Davis” (if that was even his real name), was especially rude and unhelpful. All I wanted was for my name to be corrected so I could go on the trip I paid for. Instead, because Expedia refused to properly assist me, my trip to Bali had to be canceled. To make matters worse, I was told the ticket was non-refundable despite the fact that I purchased travel insurance. No one could clearly explain why the insurance would not help in this situation. This entire experience has been frustrating, stressful, and unacceptable. I feel like I wasted thousands of dollars and received no real customer support in return. I strongly advise others to think twice before booking with Expedia based on my experience. Don't do it go straight through the airline
Absolutely awful cancellation policy with Expedia and Mint Kasa. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking people’s money. I booked in April for a trip in July and canceled in April and somehow I’m responsible. That’s terrible business and these people are a bunch of thieves!
I booked a round-trip flight from Massachusetts to Florida, and while my outbound flight was fine, I discovered that my return flight was canceled without any prior notice. If I hadn’t checked, I would have arrived at the airport only to be told it was gone. Worse yet, when I filed a claim, they offered me a $120 voucher, which is far less than what I paid—almost $300. I feel completely taken advantage of, and I am extremely disappointed in this treatment.”
