Purchased one of the stainless automatic water troughs and have been extremely frustrated with both the product and the customer service experience. The trough does not sit level when mounted through the supplied holes on a standard flat wall. It naturally angles downward, which means the water overflows before the float has a chance to shut the valve off properly. On top of that, the float adjustment is extremely limited because the flap/float mechanism fouls on itself before it can lift high enough to stop the water flow. This is an inherent design flaw. After multiple emails, the only real response was to “put something thicker behind it”, despite there being no warning anywhere on the product listing that customers may need to fabricate custom wedges/spacers just to get the product to function normally. One email from support even stated that the installation can “feel out of spec”, which honestly sums the product up pretty well. What’s most disappointing is that there was no offer of compensation, replacement, refund, or meaningful investigation into whether the unit itself is poorly designed or faulty. For such a simple concept, this has been unnecessarily frustrating and handled poorly by customer service. Buyers should be aware this is not a straightforward bolt-on product and requires modification to function correctly. There are far better value alternatives out there that won’t leave customers this frustrated over what should be a very simple installation.
