We began working with this company to help with the publishing of my daughter's book. We were made so many promises and we trusted them fully. That was our FIRST mistake. The first printed copy of the book contain 100's of mistakes and we were NOT satisfied in anyway. They would never confirm a date for the publication of the book. We terminated services with this company beginning in April with continued request for the money we spent to be returned to us. Many emails later, phone appointments missed, and complete disrespect once I had a phone converstaion with the finance department, we still have not received a refund. We had contracts stating that if we were in anyway dissatisfied with the services we were 100% guaranteed a return of the money. Since May 23rd, all calls and emails have been ignored and they no longer will communicate with us. We purchased a website which they have now totally disabled but did not return the money. Please ignore any reviews that you see that are positive, they are fake. Do NOT trust this company, they do want to publish your book. They want to take your money, make promises, and then NOT provide any of the promised services.
This company is 100% a scam. I'm writing this review to give a warning to other's before this company fills other's with the same false promises they give me. They sent me a printed copy, they designed me a cover, and they built me a website. All things happened, but I was promised professional editing, wonderful marketing, and a top-notch experience. None of those things happened. My writing received the worst editing imaginable with hundreds of mistakes when I received the final printed copy. I fully believe they copy and pasted my draft and manuscript and hoped I wouldn't notice they never edited the thing. As if the beta readers or myself didn't notice. They never gave me a standard release date. They kept changing their minds and tried to pressure more money out of me every time I asked. I kept asking for a timeline of when they would release my book, but they never gave me an answer. Again, they kept pressuring more money out of me, insisting it was for the best. This company has an L.A number and office, but it's likely they are based out of state. The office address takes you to a book store. All the client reviews on their website aren't real authors. None of the books they claimed to have edited actually exist. I should have taken these red flags seriously, but their sweet words and my excitement blinded me. I can not stress enough, please don't trust them. Do not be blind like I was. The debt they put us in is large. Don't make my mistakes. This company should feel ashamed of lying to naive aspiring writers such as myself, but I know they won't because they will never be punished. We tried to reach out to the company for a refund and the credit card company, but nothing worked. The funds will not be returned, and I feel cheated and betrayed. No one is taking this scam seriously. They put us in so much debt after promising us the book would be a success. I feel betrayed, trapped, and saddened because I truly believed that what they said. I believed they were a genuine small indie house, but I was wrong. All I can do now is hopefully warn others.
Fraudulent and Deceptive Practices This Company, a professional writing book marketing service, promises a 100% Money-back guarantee in case of dissatisfaction. I informed them I was dissatisfied with the quality of the marketing service and requested a full refund. They refused to honor the agreement. What's more, they violated the Non-disclosure agreement by posting a Halloween picture of my book sitting in a graveyard with tombstones all around and a hand coming up from the ground as if it was pulling the book (a book about Christianity) into a grave. When I called my assigned representative about my concerns, he offered an insincere apology, which only highlighted their lack of genuine concern for my experience. However, the amount of damage cannot be determined since it was posted before Halloween and was not discovered until a week into November. The non-disclosure agreement clearly states the following: The Company acknowledges and agrees that in connection with the Services, the Client may disclose to the Company information, including, but not limited to, Methods, processes, formulae, compositions, systems, techniques, inventions, machines, computer programs and projects, and raw data. Information of a personal and confidential nature would be kept between the Client and the Company and would not be leaked out whatsoever. The agency later offered a 40% reimbursement because I threatened to file a claim with the Public Inquiry Unit Office of the Attorney General. This offer is far from the 100% I was promised and shows their need for more fairness, especially since only a few of the promises had even been started four months into the process. I strongly recommend against using Professional Writers Help or, at the least, holding them accountable for every step of the process. Date of experience: October 13, 2023
