AVOID AT ALL COSTS.....

Everyone advertising a property is a scammer! I had to pay £19.99 just start contacting people about their advertisements. None of the rooms on there are actually for rent, it's just people trying to scam you out of a deposit!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Scam. Very unlikely to find an actual room/flat

After looking for a room to rent in Edinburgh I found what seemed to be like three great options on Roombuddies, and sent the advertisers emails on the site. I was told on each occasion my emails hadn't been received because I wasn't an 'early bird' - aka I hadn't paid a subscription. Then I got an email direct to my email inbox from a Zara Hassan saying the room I was interested in was still available, I just needed to pay my first month's rent and a £600 deposit, and assure her I could keep the flat tidy/clean. Yet I never contacted a Zara Hassan on the site, nor was the room she was advertising in Edinburgh but Brighton! I only realised because I remembered her name from some of the reviews on here so checked out her advert. Clearly a scam to get deposits that you'll never see again. AVOID.

scammers

scammers, they kept asking for the deposit to book the room even before checking it and whenever i ask any question, they ignore it and i caught them in couple of times in the same conversation, as they send you a FAKE contract to print out and sign and give it to them , THE BLOODY SIGNATURE did not match his ID as i kept asking for a proof of ID. then he did another mistake which was mentioning two different prices of the room as he was confused. i wish i can report them to the police but i don't have enough to proof of course he did not make any sense for me that is why i have never paid anything to him

AVOID LIKE THE YOU ARE AVOIDING THE PLAGUE

This is not a review, this is a WARNING. An utterly disgusting website used by utterly despicable people. Like others here, when you are desperate for a room and have had little to no responses from the many adverts you have been after, you will be lured in by the pretty pictures only to have the vile poison injected into you later. ZARA DANIELLE HASSAN will be a common name in these reviews, and I cannot express to you how much I wished I read the reviews before having my 700-pound "security deposit" taken. I was heading to see the room in Edinburgh, however, storm Ali hit and I only got up to Newcastle before being forced to head back home. I had paid the security deposit and received an "invoice" and was heading to receive the keys, and when I informed the person of the situation of my travel, they did not even have the common decency to acknowledge it and began demanding more money. It was at this point it became clear who I was dealing with and they also changed their behavior. Their English began to decline and kept, and after asking multiple times to speak to the solicitor they kept referring to, they refused to give any information regarding them. After visiting the website after my incident, it became obvious that the website is rife with scammers. I sent emails to many of them after and after some replied, it was with the same gimmick from before. Even IF there are a handful of legit adverts, invest your efforts elsewhere. My best advice is to make sure that a straight-forward question receives straight-forward answers. I was duped into believing that maybe the persons English was not native level and they couldn't explain their points clearly, however, not once did I receive a straightforward answer to any of my questions, and none of their actions seemed consistent for someone seriously looking to rent their place. They will use tactics such as appearing simple and having some sort of condition such as going deaf (at least in my case) and only wanting to move in with their family. This is all a ruse. If they ever tell you that they are not after your money, they are ONLY after your money.

Stay away from this site

I cannot express this enough, it is a scam, do not use this site for your own good, created an account with details of waht I was looking for, within an hour I got a response of someone who apparently had a suitable room, they emailed me some pictures of the room and mentioned the address, I said "sounds good, now if I could only have a viewing" (this is something I suggest everyone does for their own good, always ask for a viewing), according to them they have had bad experiences or some kind of crap like that so they don't want to arrange viewings, now I don't know about you but that is super fishy, if they are living there which presumably they are otherwise they would say they aren't currently there, plus there is no real harm is arranging a viewing and he person not turning up, the worst that would happen is they lost maybe an hour. I should also mention they wanted me to pay a deposit before I even got to see the house which only adds to my suspitions, his last email was one of he funniest things I have ever seen, it was three or four paragraphs of why I shouldn't view it, I didn't even read all of it it felt like I was reading the terms and conditions of any sign up site. It looked like they were desperate for me to give them a deposit and I was not even allowed to look at it. With that being the case I gave them a peice of my mind and told them to never email me again, I blocked them on both email and mobile, I sent him one last email with three pragraphs of my own and it felt so satisfying. What to conclude is do not even use this site don't send enquiries and most of all do not create an account on this site at all, not worth your time.

I wouldn't even rate Roombuddies one…

I wouldn't even rate Roombuddies one star, its a scam and poor students are being ripped off with no protection in place. Recently found a room in Bristol address - 22 Baldwin Street, Bristol, BS1 1NR, (note this property does not exist) the landlord Mrs Zara Danielle Hassan insisted on a deposit to hold the flat for £600.00, before viewing the property, sending pictures and fake official documents, including passport picture, record of certificate of title deed, she then asks for money upfront a bank transfer, and then a further one months rent. I transferred £600.00 to her account, then she demanded more, got a little suspicious and started asking further questions, then a Nigerian guy rings and informs me he is her solicitor, cannot speak a proper word of english demanding more money. PLEASE BE AWARE ITS A SCAM, DO NO USE ROOM BUDDIES!

Not even worthy of one star

Not even worthy of one star, wish I could give 0. Was looking for a room in Edinburgh and found one but the lady refused a viewing saying I had to pay 600 deposit and promised one after, since I was desperate for the room because of price and location I fell into the trap and paid 600. She refused to refund (even after she said she would) and demanded 500 on top for viewing the place and this is when warning bells went off and I kindly requested she return the deposit, but she didn’t. This website is full of scammers I don’t know why the team haven’t made more of an effort to get rid of these horrible desperate good for nothing people. I unfortunately stumbled across this review page after I had been scammed so if you are viewing this before you’re thinking about replying to an advert then GO BACK DON’T DO IT. And unlike me please don’t pay ANYTHING upfront without viewing the place, meeting the person and signing a contract.
