BEWARE OF SCAMMERS. DO NOT USE!!

I actually wish it was possible to give less than 1star. I posted an advert for a house a few months ago. Someone messaged me on whatsapp to tell me that he has a lovely 3bed apartment for me. I sent him my email, he sent me pictures. The flat looked nice and all. His name was Chris Bailey. He said for me to secure the flat, I had to pay a £500 deposit so it can be kept for me. I agree don’t because I was desperately looking for a place. Mind you, I haven’t viewed yet becaus I was very far away from the property which was in Belfast on 10,Ross road. Before paying the deposit, he messaged me every single day reminding me to pay the deposit. I started to suspect why he was sooo pushy about it but I paid the £500 anyway. He stopped disturbing me after that. He now stated that his lawyer said I needn’t to pay a 2month rent upfront. To verify that I can pay the rent. That was where I was quite sure it may be a prank cause that was not the first terms of the contract. I told him I couldn’t pay any further money as I haven’t viewed the flat and I would pay as soon as I view it and it is what it is. He said there were other people who wanted the flat and o had to pay to be sure I will take it. I still said I wasn’t going to pay...he then said okay. That he will tell his lawyer something else so that I can take the flat. Everything just felt too good to be true. It was After this, I kept texting him from time to time to be sure he was still reachable. Upon getting to the house, I found out that it was a one bedroom and there is someone leaving there. The person did not even know about any arrangements like that. He clearly wasn’t the landlord. I was scammed of £500. He blocked me on whatsapp and he stopped replying my email. I will be taking this issue to the police but beware, DO NOT HSE ROOMBUDDIES

If I could put less than 1 star I would. they have no real people looking at the ads. I paid for "premier" service and my ad was just sitting there. no views, no emails compared to gumtree or spareroom. I emailed them for a refund, no reply. money wasted. total scam, do not use do not risk your money

Use extreme caution!!

Yup this is a website rife with scammers. I made a profile advertisement looking for a room to rent in Bristol and was contacted within a day via whatsapp by someone telling me they had a room available to let. To cut a long story short, the guy spun me a very long and complicated yarn which basically gave him every excuse to avoid having a phone call with me and pressured me at every opportunity to take the room as soon as possible (i have other potential tenants that are really keen etc, etc) as well as sending me a very convincing looking tenancy agreement form that i would need to "print off, complete and bring with me to the viewing". All seemed fairly legit until finally it boiled down to "if you want to view the place i first need a £500 deposit" at which point I of course told him that was never going to happen and then he promptly stopped replying no doubt to focus his scamming energy on some unsuspecting soul who doesn't have their wits about them. Maybe they're are some legit advertisements on there but once i realised this guy was full of crap, all the other listings on the site did look far too good to be true so i removed my ad from the site and went elsewhere. In all honesty, just don't use the site or if you're going to - be overly-cautious, don't be pressured into something you're not comfortable with and most of all, if something looks too good to be true - it is! Spare room.com seems better although it is expensive to upgrade one's membership. Hope this helps!

TOTAL SCAM

Total Scam. Displayed numerous potential 'tenants' in my area. But after I paid a fee of £20.00 giving me 4 weeks to contact everyone I received one response to my first message and that was it! This site is a total scam and this is a warning to others thinking of using the site. YOU WILL GET CONNED. Try spareroom.co.uk. I did and it is an excellent site where I have had plenty of responses and have already found a housemate within one week!

Don't touch this site

The site looked promising with lots of prospective 'tenants' in my area eagerly waiting to rent a room. However after paying the fee (£20.00 for 4 weeks) to contact all these interested parties I found that I received only one dodgy reply. This site has the feel of a sting and I feel I have been duped . I will not recommend this site to anyone in fact I would actively warn anyone else against using this. There are a lot better more helpful companies out there.
