Michael Jones Sigma Homes in Sussex are impressive in every way and very desirable because of their fantastic location.
We are thinking of buying a Sigma Home in Cuckfield and popped down to see their existing show home in Angmering. Although the house types are very different, it was really useful to see the quality of their spec and speak to their Sales Manager, katie who was very helpful. We shall definitely visit Hanlye View with further interest.
The mortar on our front path has begun to crumble within 16 months of us living here. Sigma asked the groundworkers who laid it to check the quality of the mortar and they said it was not defective. Sigma concluded "this will have only been caused by the weather and so this is not a defect". With that verdict, Sigma will not fix it under our two year warranty. Well laid patio pointing should last a decade. Sigma claim to put an "emphasis on quality" and a "commitment to customer satisfaction" but that does not match my experience. Now I'm worried what other parts of my property will crumble and fall apart due to "the weather".
Very nice finish Helpful and informed sales person
I enquired about new build in Haywards heath- Spring Bank. Spoke with Katy 02030190740 at 16:11 on Thursday 20/04/2023. she informed me that she only had two homes on the govt scheme for 2 bedroom. They were already applied for and were in the process of being checked if they meet the criteria. She said she herself did not make the decision to keep or remove the applicants as the local authority would evaluate their eligibility. Then I asked her if she had a waiting list and If I can be put on it. We have lived and worked in Haywards heath for 7 years! First she said, she could but the likelihood of us getting it was low. When I insisted she said yeah I'll put you on the list. Then I asked how will she put me on as she didn't have my details. She never asked for my full name or any details about finances or contact number. She said she could control who went on the waiting list and that I did not qualify. Then she point blank refused to put me on the waiting list saying that I do not qualify. I have a south asian name. Enough said. Someone can decide over the phone without knowing your full details that I do not qualify and not even take my details to put on a waiting list. If I am prepared to take that risk of being rejected, what does she have to lose? Fair enough give me a checklist, let me apply and I go through the process knowing it is fair. But for someone to refuse putting my name on to the waiting list is completely utterly mind-blowing. How is this happening in this day and age is beyond me. My name is Nazia. I meet all of the below criteria: How do I qualify for the First Homes scheme? 1-You must be a first time buyer. That means that anyone who has ever inherited or been gifted a home is ineligible. 2-You must earn less than £80,000 (or £90,000 in London), whether you're buying solo or as part of a couple. 3-The property you’re buying must cost no more than £250,000, or £420,000 in London. 4-You must already work or live in the area you’re wanting to buy in, or have a connection to it. Say you grew up there or have family there, for example. 5-Key workers will be prioritised. Sigma Homes have a lot of explaining to do.
The house itself has been finished to a high standard and beautifully presented. The staff have all been really helpful and attentive, overall a really pleasant experience from beginning to end.
The buying process was made easy by the sales team who helped us through the process. The house turned out to be even better than our expectations with excellent sound proofing (our new home is semi-detached) and great underfloor heating. Any snags which have arisen have been promptly sorted out. All in all we are delighted with our new home.
We moved into our “luxury” new home nearly a year ago, with hope and expectation that our new house would be everything we dreamed of; however, it has been anything but. The past 12 months have been some of the hardest and most stressful, having to try and project manage Sigma Homes and the various trades to rectify over 400 snags/defects, and yet we are still far from finished trying to get our house to the correct standard it should have been finished to in the first place. We understand that a new home will encounter snags/defects, but the sheer volume and size of many of these issues has been unbelievable. However, the worst part is how Sigma Homes have dealt with all of our issues - the way we’ve have to push, fight and argue so hard to simply get our issues addressed, the lies we’ve encountered along the way, the terrible organisation in arranging the trades and giving them the correct information, and the sheer lack of remorse from Sigma for everything they’ve put us through. Many of our lovely new neighbours are experiencing the exact same issues with Sigma Homes. Like us, these are good, hard working people who thought they were buying a beautiful new home but yet have been subjected to some of the worst customer experience a consumer could ever face. Sigma Homes believes it offers “stunning” luxury homes to its customers - this is far from the truth in our experience!
Good design and fittings of a reasonable spec. but heating system too complex. Mainly used sub-contractors with consequent poor attention to detail for carpentry, electrics and plumbing. Poor customer service with excessive waits to attend to snagging issues.
Our new home is cosy and comfortable and very well appointed. We have had good support for any snagging queries we had and the staff on site are always friendly and helpful.
We are very happy with the Sigma Home that we now have. However, there were a number of issues that arose once we moved in - snagging - the bulk of which have now been sorted. It would have been better had these basic issues been sorted before we moved in as most of them were to do with either not finishing off properly or not even properly installed. Sigma could save itself a lot of extra work is this was dealt with at the build stage!
It's been nearly a year since we moved in and still the house is not finished to the promised specification and level of quality. A truly disappointing experience and misaligned definition of luxury.
I have had a recurring issue with mould in my new build property (as has a neighbour on my development) since purchasing in 2020. Sigma homes have paid lip-service to rectifying the issue, but in general lack expertise to deal with issue. I am now having to make a formal complaint, and am seeking an independent to fix the problem which seems to result from a lack of quality control when laying the roof. On top of this, I have had the front of the property dug up as Sigma incorrectly laid the drains. The customer service team lack insight and are totally unhelpful. In general, I think this is a company that build houses with a top quality finish but fail to pay attention to basic details behind the scenes. My neighbours have had issues with electrics, plumbing, heating as well as basic things like ventilation. Would not recommend purchasing from this builder. Expect better when purchasing from a top-end builder.
Too clumsy, clunky, leads me to believe your houses will be the same, gross, ugly and no style.
Great quality house builders and although we had a few teethng problems as you would expect, Sigma's after sales assistance has been first class.
