I have been a Wix Premium customer since April 2022, on a yearly plan since May 2022. On 5 May 2026 Wix charged my card AU$504 for the next annual renewal, 19 days before the actual renewal date of 24 May 2026. Two things make this problematic. First, Wix's own published support article on payment after cancellation states the renewal date is "14 days before the anniversary of the original purchase date." My anniversary is 24 May, so per Wix's own policy the renewal should have processed on 10 May, not 5 May. My previous two renewals in 2024 and 2025 both occurred on 10 May, exactly in line with that policy. The 2026 renewal broke that pattern by 5 days. Second, the renewal included a 27% price increase from AU$396 to AU$504. I contacted Wix chat within an hour of the charge and requested either a reversal or a switch to monthly billing. Both were refused. I then submitted Wix's Special Circumstances Refund Request, and was told this would take 45 business days (around 9 weeks) to receive a response. That timeframe exceeds the chargeback window with most card issuers, which appears to be the point. The amount in dispute is small but the pattern, billing earlier than the merchant's own stated policy, increasing the price, then quoting a refund response window longer than the chargeback window, is the kind of conduct I'd expect Wix to want to address. Happy to update this review if Wix's Special Circumstances team can resolve it. Australia.
Who actually came up with the outlandish rating that Wix is user-friendly and child's play??? It's practically impossible to create a website without a tutorial; there are too many levels, too many options. Sure, you can do a lot, but much of it is very hidden, and the terminology is sometimes unclear. I have no idea how people think it's intuitive. The AI, Aria, helps a little, especially with the basic steps. When it comes to design suggestions, I personally couldn't do anything with them because I had very clear ideas. I was appalled by the suggestions and asked them to be undone immediately. Better to do it yourself. Things get really difficult with Wix when there are technical problems. For example, I couldn't drag the cursor down on the mobile version of the page. Probably because the footer was stuck right there. I was directed to some menu that didn't exist, and Aria kept giving the same instruction: drag the cursor down. Haha. I didn't get anywhere with the chat either, presumably also AI-powered. Although I constantly need to expand my site, I've given up. Especially with many images in different formats, I constantly had to readjust the mobile version because the formats kept being standardized. Chap GTP, not Aria, then explained to me how I could adjust the images using the "fit" setting. Sorry, but as a semi-layman, you're really stuck. If you're an IT professional, it's certainly easier, but for someone like me, who "only" maintained websites with two different systems, it's sometimes too complicated. I'm not impressed with Wix, definitely not.
