Overall a really good service and they offered a seasonal price for a Level 3 Survey for a discounted price (less than I paid for a Level 2 Survey on my previous house. Overall, the communication was great apart from when the survey was done, I wasn't communicated that it was completed due to the servers being down. I appreciate that errors happen, however an email to say that the survey was undertaken, and the report will be out ASAP would have been nice
I instructed McCallums Property Surveying for a Level 3 Building Survey and, overall, the service was very good. They were quick to respond, reasonably priced compared with competitors, and the report was well written, clearly laid out, and easy to follow. They also took the time to address the specific concerns I raised about the property, which genuinely helped put my mind at ease. However, there was an important issue in the original report. It described the property as having a brick-built chimney stack that appeared structurally sound following visual inspection. In reality, the chimney had already been removed as part of the 2024 loft extension — something the amended report correctly states (“the chimney has been removed below the roof level”). There is also a multi‑fuel burner noted in the downstairs fireplace, with the report recording that the vendor stated it was for aesthetics only and would not work. Given the chimney removal, I personally considered this combination worth flagging more clearly from a safety perspective. To McCallums’ credit, when I raised the chimney point they responded promptly and issued a corrected report, which I appreciate. That said, an error of this nature does make me wonder whether there could be other copy‑and‑paste style inaccuracies that aren’t as obvious. In summary: responsive, good value, and clear reporting — and they did correct the issue when notified — but the initial factual error was significant enough that I’d recommend reading the report carefully and challenging anything that doesn’t line up.

Very responsive over email, though wasn't able to get through over the phone. Our survey was delivered when they said it would be and we were able to get a level 3 survey for very cheap due to a seasonal discount. Would highly recommend as it was well worth the price.
Best the price compared to other Level 3 survey quotations, the team were prompt in answering queries. Online portal is easy to use and up to date. They had the shortest lead time on dates for the survey and also for the report to be completed and returned to us. The report was thorough and professional. Would definitely use again!
The booking process is so very easy, all online. You get notified for each step of the process and for me it took 1 week from when I booked the survey up until I have received the report. With few clicks, all was sorted! Very easy, very efficient!

Booked and paid in the same day, 2 &1/2 weeks to go to the property- they forgot and didn’t arrange the survey until I chased multiple times after the 2&1/2 week wait. They were quite hard to get hold of over the phone. The report did come through very quickly and the price couldn’t be beaten however. I would have liked more things to be covered in the report and the ratings to be more accurate. I feel like a category is missing when there is no problem found and no repairs needed, but it’s rated a 2 because it’s not brand new. However a 2 states a few issues that needs repairing but not immediately. I tried to query this and received a very blunt response like they couldn’t be bothered “well that’s what my boss tells me to do, I took loads of photos but my boss said I’m only allowed to upload 16”. It’s ticking boxes “trust me there is no problems with that house” instead of writing more facts in the report. Would have been nice to be offered a phone call to speak through and explain the report- instead you get an email and if you have any questions; you have to get in touch.

With the stress of buying our first house and nothing going smoothly, when it came to organising a survey we were worried it was going to be just as stressful. I really can’t recommend McCallums Propertry Surveying enough, it all went so smoothly and we got an appointment so quick!! We were shocked! We were provided with a very detailed report within 2 days of the survey being carried out.
