Overall a really good service and they offered a seasonal price for a Level 3 Survey for a discounted price (less than I paid for a Level 2 Survey on my previous house. Overall, the communication was great apart from when the survey was done, I wasn't communicated that it was completed due to the servers being down. I appreciate that errors happen, however an email to say that the survey was undertaken, and the report will be out ASAP would have been nice
I instructed McCallums Property Surveying for a Level 3 Building Survey and, overall, the service was very good. They were quick to respond, reasonably priced compared with competitors, and the report was well written, clearly laid out, and easy to follow. They also took the time to address the specific concerns I raised about the property, which genuinely helped put my mind at ease. However, there was an important issue in the original report. It described the property as having a brick-built chimney stack that appeared structurally sound following visual inspection. In reality, the chimney had already been removed as part of the 2024 loft extension — something the amended report correctly states (“the chimney has been removed below the roof level”). There is also a multi‑fuel burner noted in the downstairs fireplace, with the report recording that the vendor stated it was for aesthetics only and would not work. Given the chimney removal, I personally considered this combination worth flagging more clearly from a safety perspective. To McCallums’ credit, when I raised the chimney point they responded promptly and issued a corrected report, which I appreciate. That said, an error of this nature does make me wonder whether there could be other copy‑and‑paste style inaccuracies that aren’t as obvious. In summary: responsive, good value, and clear reporting — and they did correct the issue when notified — but the initial factual error was significant enough that I’d recommend reading the report carefully and challenging anything that doesn’t line up.
Very responsive over email, though wasn't able to get through over the phone. Our survey was delivered when they said it would be and we were able to get a level 3 survey for very cheap due to a seasonal discount. Would highly recommend as it was well worth the price.
