My wife and I have used PADI Travel twice, both times for the Aqua Cat Liveaboard in Nassau, Bahamas. For both bookings the service was great with PADI Travel specialists replied to all my emails quickly answering all my questions and providing clear assistance. Also, PADI Travel coordinated seamlessly with the dive provider (All Start Liveaboards) and provided clear instructions for completing all necessary documentation. It was also great that DAN insurance was included in the booking. I would definitely use PADI Travel again, as well as use All Start Liveaboards for future dive trips.
The booking process was super easy and staff was super helpful, they managed to get us last minute reservations for the destination we were looking forward. They followed up in emails and even a call, which is truly appreciated.
Our resort experience was fantastic and I gave the resort a 9.8 rating overall. The resort was NOT a dive resort and although they accommodated us, there was no place to rinse or dry our gear. The PADI travel description was inaccurate. It said the dive shop was within walking distance, but the Staff said it was an hour boat ride to the resort. There was some confusion on the first day as they did not have me scheduled and the Nitrox wasn't scheduled. They never checked our certifications and gave us all Nitrox the second day. The Rocket Frog Divers stored our gear with the first dive and said they rinsed and dried it, but we never saw the shop and one of the dive guides said they took the gear in our mesh bags and dunked the whole thing in the tank and hung it up. Not the same as I would do if I had the option. The dive guides/Master divers on the boat were wonderful. Helpful and supportive, but the equipment and the boats were terrible. The entry and exit from the boat was difficult as there were no lines/hand holds to get up or safely get to the swim decks. The little boat had a solid center and tubes on the outside so there was very little space to move around to get dressed or undressed. The first dive on that boat there were 9 divers! They admitted that it was overcrowded, and the next time it was only the 5 in our group. The last dive day, before we took off, the ladder onto the tubed boat, the ladder to get up broke at 2 of the weld sites and scraped my ankle and scared me enough that my husband and I aborted our dive. The captain tied the broken steps up with a rope and the other members of the group said it held for the rest of the day. T should have asked for a refund for the last day, but I didn't. After reviewing my experience I received a call from the Rocket Frog Divers and discussed the issues. They were very interested in improving the experience and made reparations for the aborted last dive and the Nitrox. I believe they are sincere that they want to make the experience the best that they can.
The agents who assisted me were fantastic! Responsive, helpful, and offered alternative suggestions when our original choice was booked.
On the positive side, I received phone call and email from Lasamar Pirela soon after I made the booking. On the negative side, my guest and I had quite a bit of difficulty completing the required personal information on the reservation form. For example, where I am asked to provide my birthdate, the only way that I could enter it is to open the little calendar and scroll backwards all the way to 1943. :( I have traveled worldwide for many years and have never encountered something like that. Then, when I forwarded the reservation link to my guest, she was not able to open the section asking for her personal information. I sent her the link repeatedly over several days, but she could not open it. She had to come to my home to complete it. LB
