The Farmer's Dog earns a 3.6/5 rating due to exceptional product quality and customer service that are consistently undermined by delivery logistics failures, steep pricing, and isolated but serious health concerns reported by some customers.

My dog loved the food but customer service refuses to have order delivered on my day off due to logistic reasons . They only want to use fedex which doesn't deliver in my area on my days off .they dont even think to use a different carrier which speaks volumes , one of the first time s in my life I actually got a no from customer service , that shouldn't even be in their vocabulary. So they lost me as a customer . Customer service should make it happen but refuses to . Terrible customer service. Some of us have to work 2 jobs and can't be home to wait on fedex to decide to deliver .
Sent me junk mail through a business called Our Town America
This customer support team is phenomenal. After placing an order shortly thereafter, we lost our pet macaroni of 14 years, leaving cheese, her brother without his best friend. After notifying the farmers dog staff that I no longer needed food for macaroni they were so compassionate and kind with their follow up not only is their food healthy and cheese loves it, but the compassion of the team is more than you could ever ask for
I had needed to reach out to the customer service side of the farmers dog company and was helped by Ana, she was very kind and incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. 5 stars to both Ana and the company itself!
I ordered the trial box for my two dogs. They love the food. Each package is designed for four meals. It arrived in a sturdy box padded with dry ice. Seven packages for each dog; an insulated carry tote; a sturdy hard plastic container. Everything was neat and well packaged. Meal plan included. Excellent customer service.
My golden retriever Charlie is 11.5 years old right now. I want him to keep on going strong for all our sakes. We got him a little brother recently and we want him to have the energy to play with the puppy. We tried The Farmer's Dog food and he happily GOBBLED it down! Now they both chase each other around the house for fun instead of him always sleeping on his couch. Side note: because it's human-grade, it doesn't stink, and I really appreciate that❤️
I HAVE HAD A GREAT EXPEIENCE WITH FARMER DOG. THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC MY DOG LOVES IT . HE IS ENERGETIC. AND FULL OF LIFE. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO HAVING A HEART I WILL SAY THE PEOPLE THERE ARE READY TO HELP . AND SEND A GOD BLESS THIS COMPANY. FOR SHOWING COMPASSION IN TIMES OF HARDSHIPS .
My little pitbull had been feeling sick so I decided to switch him over to the farmers dog food. Unfortunately little Tank didn't even make it to the first order. The order arrived the same day that Tank passed away. When I called the farmers dog a few days later and told them that Tank had passed away and that I wouldn't be needing any future orders, without even asking they reverse the charges on the first order and gave me my money back. That was unexpected. And as if that wasn't enough A couple of weeks later a beautiful potted plant arrived at my front door from the farmers dog. With a sympathy card. I have never met kinder people. And I'm sure you could imagine I was and I still am devastated about losing my dog. But they were there for me when I needed them the most. Without asking they just stepped right in and tried to do anything they could to help me get through this. I'm definitely going to get another dog one of these days and I'm sure gonna use the farmers dog food. The farmers dog really rocks. Sincerely, D Wood
My Belgian Malinois was overweight unhealthy lethargic and weighed 100 lbs when we started Farmers Dog in June 2024. In just under 2 years he is maintaining a weight around 65 lbs and is healthy happy and very active! He LOVES his meals and I feel so good feeding him fresh food! Definitely the best choice for our pup and our family!
I started about three weeks ago, and I was looking forward to the food. I was cooking for my dogs, and I work, so this seemed to be a good fit at first. My dogs are 75& 85 pounds doodles. I changed the mix because I am not a fan of pork. But I ordered it because that is what FD said I should have. I don't eat much pork, and I don't think dogs should either, but this is what FD suggested. At first, my dogs loved it. I mix with my Nulo dry food and Farmers. Little by little, my main doodle began picking, so I changed the mix for the next order. I also noticed they seem to poop more, and omg it stinks, and it seems softer than when I was cooking for them. The next thing I knew, the order arrived. Now I had 28 bags. My other doodle has gas so bad he could stop a clock. I wanted to change how they were shipping it, and the mix again needs to be changed. I do not give this stuff by itself. FD asked yesterday how many bags are left. I told them. Today, when I went into my portal, they were getting my order ready yet again. That means I would have 42 bags of dog food all charged to me in three weeks. The funny thing was its not like it's cheaper to cook for my dogs its the time. But at least I know what they are getting. Once a week I cook a piece of salmon and mix with there food I used to cook. I have seen a few reviews that were hard to find. They have scared the crap out of me. I called today and canceled my order altogether. I watched a few YouTube videos. FD does not tell you anywhere what goes into the food. I am returning to cooking for my dogs, although time-consuming, at least I know what is going into my dog food.
I had a very frustrating and honestly unacceptable experience with The Farmer’s Dog. My ex-husband previously had an account for my dog. I tried to create a completely new account for my own dog, especially because they were offering a discount for new customers. Everything seemed fine during signup, and my credit card was charged. After that, I contacted their support via chat to simply request an adjustment, I wanted to add more food to my order. That’s when things went wrong. The agent suddenly told me my account was “duplicated,” which made no sense because I have never had an account with them before. The previous account was under my ex-husband, not me. When I started asking basic and completely reasonable questions, especially about my credit card being charged, they stopped responding properly. I asked clearly what would happen with my payment and whether I would be refunded, and they avoided answering. Instead of resolving anything, they said they would “escalate” the issue and that someone would follow up by email. After that, they simply stopped responding. The chat was essentially abandoned, leaving me without answers, without clarity, and with my card already charged. This is extremely unprofessional. Charging a customer and then refusing to provide clear answers or support is unacceptable. I cannot recommend this company to anyone. The lack of transparency, poor customer service, and complete disregard for the customer’s concerns make this a company I would not trust with my money or my pet’s food.
I called farmers dog to complain about the increase in cost and all the bad issues with their food! I got a terrible response from their employee, Loud mouth would not give me a chance to say anything for most of the call. I told her I would be closing my account then sends me a email Support | The Farmer’s Dog Wed, Apr 1, 10:43 AM (2 days ago) Hi Larry, I'm so sorry to hear this! To confirm, I've gone ahead and canceled Cookie's plan, so you won’t be charged for any future orders unless we hear otherw
I believe our dog died after starting Farmer's dog. Went from completely healthy except needing to lose a couple of pounds. We switched because we thought we were getting her on a healthier diet but she lost 9 lbs in two months and I think that was too much too quick and and then passed while taking a nap.
My dog loves this food but that's not saying much since she also eats out of trash cans any chance she gets. What I don't like about this company is their overly complicated select / order / auto-renew system. They want to send the amount of food they think your dog needs at the frequency they think is right. The customer seems to have little to no control over how much you buy when. I finally discontinued. It's so much easier to buy quality food for dogs in a store and bring it home when you want to.
We started our 5 month old female poodle, Sadie, on this food and she is doing great for the past months. Gained 4 lbs, lots of energy. Gobbles it down 3x per day.
