What customers mention most
This company deserves to bankrupt in the most epic way possible. Why is it when someone shares a folder with files with me, that they already PAY for, this low level platform is asking me to pay for storage too. Nonsense and their bankrupt has been long overdue, like for 10 years. I would rather use paypal. I cannot think of a more useless service.
Zero stars should be better. I cancelled my subscription on the day that I had gotten it. To date i have bot been assisted and nobody responds. They are still taking money from me. I am appalled and do not recommend their services.
Terrible support. No humans, they don't respond to the support email they force you to use. I submitted last week,. they say they respond in 48 hours, and I've received no response. I will never use Dropbox again
I never received my order. They were supposed to send me a refund. They never did, instead they kept my money. I would suggest to NEVER buy from them. They are a scam. The worst company I have ever bought anything from. They take your money and do not give you the product you paid for, give the refund to only lie to you.its been 5 mos since I order.
If I could I'd give them a 0. They deleted my very very important files and they could not be gotten back. They also make it difficult to get adequate customer service. Dropbox wont help you if you signed up through Google Play which I think alot of people did and Google is a horrible evil company, no wonder their motto is supposed to be Don't be evil. I had had the monthly paid service of $12 and I canceled it. After I canceled it I thought well maybe thats why my videos were deleted. I hadn't checked the files first. I wasn't sure if canceling it deleted them so out of desperation I signed back up but it didn't make a difference. They said if they were deleted a hundred days ago you cant get them back ( I hadn't checked on them for awhile). Well it turns out I thought I was signing up for their monthly service like I had before but it turned somehow I got signed up for a year and was charged $127. I think it was sneaky and it probably looked like monthly or it was hard to tell but I might just not have been looking closely. So I asked to cancel my service. Well they canceled it and refused to give me a refund and I canceled the day after I signed up. GARBAGE DO NOT USE
The cloud service itself is okay, however the app for the PC is a complete dumpster fire. With sync on, every picture I take uploads, and then downloads it back to the phone. So I end up with 3 of everything. Yeah I know it is a setting, but why in the hell would you release something with such an obvious and ridiculous flaw that the user now has to deal with? I pay for mine, so that is what gets me. Anyway, its okay, overpriced, and probably going to be replaced on my computer with the clouds that are free from about five different services I already pay for.
STOP. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SHIT. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU UNWILLINGLY. AND WILL TAKE YOU THROUGH HELL TO CANCEL.
Made a mistake of choosing Dropbox when I urgently needed to deliver work. I barely made it to deadline as it took hours to upload but then they restricted my file sharing for no reason and when I contacted them they said 24 hours. NOT RECOMMENDED!!
Do NOT store your files here. They will delete them at any random time/day and you will NOT be able to recover them.
Used it for over a decade, for personal files, used it as a share point for project and asset files to produce a TV show in LA, found it to be great. Then I was out of work and didn't pay the max rate required to "upgrade" again. They warned me "your files may be delted". Tried to go through and delete the larger files but suddenly found the system quite opaque and couldn't find/get rid of those old video production files etc. Like there's no "delete larger files" filter option. Then they deleted all my files. Baby videos. My house finance files. I am beyond disgusted and mortified.
I can see why I dropbox is so badly rated. The website is very poorly and confusingly designed where you have to search and think at length to know how to do anything, even find a recent file. Syncing often did not work no matter what settings I used. Often it would just hang up on my PC and I would try 10 different things as directed by copilot Ai and none of them would work to get it to finish syncing. It's also very expensive. I can back up to Google Drive for free or even a good old flash drive plugged into a USB port. Feels good to be rid of their clunky, frustrating product.
I put my cherished photos and videos of my granddaughters in Dropbox several years ago. Now, when I want to put them in a scrapbook for my granddaughter's graduation, I can't access them. When I try, the chatbot entity refers me to a technician who wants my credit card info. I'm sick of scams, and there is no human at Dropbox to help me out.
My administrative assistant did not realize we already had a dropbox account. When we tried to cancel one and keep one, dropbox had 2 separate customer service reps respond. Both asked the same questions. I gave both the same answers. Yet, dropbox would not issue a credit for 11 months for one of the accounts. Rep said "Next period is cancelled." That is fleecing 101! Check your accounts. Dropbox gets rich off the little guys.
BEWARE OF THE FREE TRIAL: Manipulative language will coerce you into signing up for a year subscription when you only mean to sign up for a trial. Once charged, Dropbox will NOT issue refunds under any circumstances. Customer service is dreadful.
I use the free version, but no matter how many files I delete from there my storage space doesn't improve and it won't even let me view files shared by other users. I get that they want me to pay but then they should just be upfront about it and say I can't use it anymore without subscription.
